Journalist Renate Kühcke of Fleischwirtschaft.de writes an analysis of the current status of pig castration in Germany. As of January 1, 2019, the ban on castration without anesthesia is irrevocable. Fleischwirtschaft notes that all links in the meat chain – from retailers and industry, cutting plants and slaughterhouses, up till pig farmers will have to cooperate in order to fulfill this.
